In order to help develop more positive growth in our Grade 6 children regarding their behaviors, cooperation, attitudes and tardiness/attendance records, we will continue our demerit/reward system.
If a child is tardy in either the morning or afternoon without a note from his/her parent, or if a child is absent and returns to school without a note from his/her parent, that child will receive one demerit.
If a child receives a behavioral detention, he/she will receive one demerit. Behavioral detentions may be assigned for: fighting, foul language, gum chewing, damaging school property, disrupting classes, disrespect for teachers and school staff, defiance of authority, and any other act of inappropriate conduct.
If a child is suspended from school for a behavioral reason, he/she will receive three (3) additional demerits.
If a child receives five (5) or more demerits in any calendar month (three for October), he/she is ineligible to participate in any out-of-school class activity, assembly program, or class recess for the next calendar month.
If any child accumulates five (5) or more demerits for three or more months prior to the Outdoor Education Trip, scheduled in May, he/she will be ineligible to attend that trip.
Any child who does not accumulate any demerits for the entire year will receive special recognition at our promotion exercise.
In addition, all children must remember the following:
*Follow directions the first time they are given.
*Keep hands, feet and objects to themselves.
