This has indeed been a unique year. Mr. Oftedal leaves Steen School after 40 years of public education service – though only one here at this school.
Three of our veteran faculty members leave us for retirement also – Ms. Giacomarra, Mrs. Jacobs, and Mrs. Landers. Best wishes to each of them in their retirement pursuits!
There are others that are leaving: Mrs. Guercio, Mrs. Teran, Mrs. Barese, Mrs. Ferlise, Mrs. Mc Donnell, Mrs. Pelligrino, Mrs. Sadek, Mrs. Zayas - Bazan, and Mrs. Garafalo. Best wishes to each of them in whatever they pursue – we will miss them all.
We will miss Mr. Al Oswald – most familiar to all of us as our day custodian. Jeff Ferraro and Jose Soto, from our evening staff. Best wishes to each of them.
Finally, our secretary, Mrs. Pena – what can be said – she impacts all of us in some way, shape, or form. Mrs. Pena is involved in the very heartbeat of our school – the main office – intercepting calls from parents, caring for our students, and caring for each of us. She is very much part of the team in the HAWK family – one that will be sorely missed. Best wishes to Mrs. Pena.
We hope that each and every one of you will be able to get the most out of your well-deserved summer break. Enjoy your families, make the most of your free time and have fun! It is our hope that you will have a great start of another school year when you return in September.
