Guidance Department

The Guidance Department’s services were established to help make students’ stay in high school as beneficial and purposeful as possible. The department aids each student in the choice of curriculum and the selection of subject courses within the curriculum. At appropriate intervals, the department also advises each student, along with his/ her parents, on the choice of a vocation, entry into college, job placement and personal problems which the student may face. Counselors keep a careful check on every student’s progress by means of frequent student interviews, analysis of test results, inspection of report cards, feedback from teachers and interviews with the student’s parents.

The Scheduling Process

This course guide is prepared to assist students and their counselors in the scheduling process for the school year 2007/2008. At the time of this printing there are several proposed courses, which are subject to final approval by the Board of Education. Students will begin the scheduling process in January and continue through March. Data from student course requests will be used to determine appropriate staffing allocations to support the curricula program in this Course Guide. Students and parents with questions should direct them to the respective Guidance Counselors listed above. Students with special needs should also consult their respective Case Managers as regards their upcoming schedule of classes.
