After school this past Wednesday, 21 May, the Sixth Grade Initiative took place.  Thank you to those of you who responded indicating your willingness to participate in this extraordinary opportunity to familiarize our 6^th graders with their new environment for next year.

On May 1, DECA members went to Jackson, New Jersey taking a Third Place victory in the New Jersey Entertainment Marketing Competition for the North Jersey Blue Division.  DECA also took a top 15 finish in the State of New Jersey for the New Jersey Restaurant Challenge for the third consecutive year.  Congratulations to DECA!!

On May 2, the Music Department (Choir, Band, and Jazz Band) took their annual trip, this year to Agawam, MA, for the band and choir competition.  The Choir, Band, and Jazz Band ALL took SECOND place with a rating of EXCELLENT for the Jazz Band.  The groups as a whole received the Esprit De Corps Award, which shows Professionalism and Sportsmanship and most well behaved group throughout the entire festival!!  Well Done !!

This year's Math Fax Competition results are as follows:

FIRST Place - Advanced Math Division 4 AND FIRST Place National:

Overall, Bogota Won FIRST PLACE for Algebra I - Division 3 !!

Congratulations to Martin T. Garcia, 7th Grader, on winning the Patriot's Pen Essay Writing Contest entitled, "Why I am an American Patriot".  Martin was honored at a special ceremony held at the Bogota V.F.W. Hall.

Congratulations to Kourtney Corrigan, who took First Place
in the Outstanding Youth Volunteer, sponsored by the William B. Mawhinney Post 1593-Ladies Auxiliary.  Mrs. Menicola, Chair Lady of Youth Activities, presented her with her awards.  Well done Kourtney!!

The National Honor Society Induction was truly beautiful.  Special thanks to Mrs. Clark, Advisor, for yet another superb ceremony.  Further thanks are in order to B.E.A. for the specially decorated cake for the Honor Society members, family and guests – it tasted great!  Thanks also to our P.T.O. for their fresh fruit and liquid refreshment.

Congratulations to Dayton Pierce and Louis Kern, our two seniors who will be representing Bogota Jr./Sr. High School at the New Jersey Boys State.

Congratulations to Bryan Antrom on being named 3rd Team All County in Basketball this past Sunday in The Record.  Congratulations to Danny Brown who named Honorable Mention-All County.  In The Record on Tuesday,
25 March, Mark Veras finished second in North Jersey in 3-pointers made. 
Bryan Antrom finished 6th in scoring.  In northjersey.com, Varsity Aces Anthony Onorata was listed in the Top 20 Assists in North Jersey and Dillon Rodgers finished in the Top 20 in Rebounds along with Danny Brown and Bryan Antrom.

Congratulations to all of the members of I.T.S. (International Thespian Society) who participated in the New Jersey Thespian Festival at Rutgers University.  Special congrats to Dayton Pierce for being named as a member of the I.T.S. State Student Board of Directors.

Congratulations to DECA members and Mr. Rosen, Advisor, for earning GOLD STATUS, on both the State and National levels, this being the highest honor awarded to a DECA chapter.  The Bogota High School Chapter of DECA received this distinction due to a number of criteria, including increase in the size of chapter members, involvement of DECA alumni, the number of school-based events run, participation in competitions, community service activities, among several other contributing factors.

to be a State Place Winner!

Congratulations to Mr. Somma on receiving the Governor's Teacher Recognition nomination for our high school. 

Congratulations to Ms. Tataru on the acceptance by the College Board of her curriculum for Advanced Placement French-Language. 
Now ALL of Bogota's Advanced Placement courses have been approved by the College Board, thus authorizing us to use the AP designation on student transcripts.
