Bogota Jr./Sr High School provides a
comprehensive grades 7-12 educational program for the students of the community
of Bogota. Our community is rich with diversity. We have a wide range of family
backgrounds, which differ in culture, tradition, occupational level and wealth.
Similarly wide is our students’ range of interests, achievements and
aspirations. The faculty works towards helping students achieve success to
become contributing citizens of our society.
The Bogota Jr/Sr High School faculty maintains and encourages students to be
pro-active learners. They have also played a major role in promoting a
successful integration of diversity at the school. Significant emphasis is being
placed on the preparation of our students for success on the State Mandated
proficiency assessments. In our Junior High School, we have implemented
Mathematics and English Enrichment courses for all students, providing them
additional instruction in preparation for the Grade Eight Proficiency Exam.
Because we believe the home, school, and community must share responsibility and
work together for the education of our students, it is our mission to work as
active partners with parents and concerned residents to ensure educational
excellence. Bogota Jr/Sr High School has a very active Parent Teachers
Organization (PTO), in addition to the BUC Boosters representing parents of
student athletes and the Band Parents representing students in the Instrumental
Program. Our community provides support to our school through the Bogota
Advisory Committee on Substance Abuse, Inc. (BACSA). In addition, the Bogota
Recreation Department works very closely with our Athletic Department in
providing continuity for our athletic program.
Students give back to the community by being a part of the Youth Action
Committee (YAC), which provides community service opportunities during the
school year for students. Student activities are coordinated through Student
Congress, which oversees all clubs and student activities in the building.
Bogota Jr/Sr High School offers an extensive athletic program as well as an
extracurricular activities program for our students. We encourage our students
to become involved not only in our classrooms, but also in activities outside of
the classroom and in our community. Our Theatre Arts program is enhanced not
only by our dramatic productions but also an active chapter of the International
Thespian Society.
Honors courses are offered to select students in English, Mathematics, Social
Studies, Science and World Languages. An accelerated math program offers
advanced math courses through Calculus. Our school participates in the Middle
College Program where students may be granted college credits for courses taken
at our school. Honors classes in the eighth grade provide opportunities for
acceleration in Mathematics, English, and World Languages on entrance into the
ninth grade.
