Cumulative Progress Indicator: 5 -  The student will explain how people can improve their ability to earn income by gaining new knowledge, skills, and experiences.

 

Grade: 4

 

Sample Activities:

 

·       An individual wants to select a career pathway….in an area of interest for future employment and postsecondary and lifelong learning.

 

·       Student interviews the parent or guardian about what the parent does as a job to earn income for the family.  Questions might include:

    ·       Who is the person you work for?

    ·       What does your work involve?

    ·       How are you paid?

    ·       Is the wage paid considered high, medium, or low?

    ·       How well does the money spread out to pay family bills/provide for necessary family items?

    ·       What was the training and/or schooling necessary for the job?

    ·       Has there been a need for you to have more training to move up and earn more money?

    ·       How many different jobs have you had?

    ·       What were the reasons for changing jobs?

 

    Student writes a summary and includes a drawing or picture about the type of work.
