Sample Activities:

 

·       The town has decided to build a new school. Prepare a presentation to convince the local board of education.

 

·       An individual wants to select a career pathway….in an area of interest for future employment and postsecondary and lifelong learning.

 

·       The behavior of sports stars and movie personalities has been called into question. Develop a system for identifying and promoting positive role models in the community

 

·       Current transportation systems consume natural resources and add to pollution and congestion.

 

·       Accessible Public Transportation

 

·        Ethics in the Workplace

 

·       I’ve Got a Problem-Conflict in the Workplace

 

·       Utilizing the computer and Internet, students will research major health and safety governing agencies, and sources for assistance and information. Students will create a word document listing major reporting agencies and their primary functions. Students will also include the steps necessary to report work-related hazards. Students will include web site addresses of the agencies.

 

·       Utilizing a design/publisher software program, students will create and design a three-fold brochure for use by other high school students. This brochure will promote and expand adolescent awareness of health and safety hazards in the workplace. Students will research and use previously learned information for this project. Students will research, collect, and organize health and safety information. Importing related graphics and inserting text, students will consider the importance of creating a brochure that will appeal to and be read by peers. Be sure to discuss the ethical issues of obtaining graphics for use in the documents. Students will share and assess their results with classmates.
