Sample Activities:

·       Statistics indicate that drugs have an impact on worker productivity and safety. Develop a program or campaign focusing on the reduction of substance abuse in the community and in the workplace.

·       Earth is becoming uninhabitable

·       Although New Jersey is well known as the Garden State, it certainly could be recognized as the Invention State. We now live in an increasing complex "global society" with demands for increased invention, design, and manufacturing to make people's lives and work more productive while meeting personal and family needs.

·       Allow students to attempt to resolve classroom or playground conflict using negotiation skills.

·       Engage the students in collaborative/cooperative learning situations. Allow students the opportunity to be exposed to a variety of specific roles. Rotate students between jobs in cooperative groups. After each students has participated in each role, students write a journal entry on likes and dislikes associated with the various roles.

·       Play the Bingo Game to teach the concept of cooperation.

·       Read a story that encourages cooperation (A Chair for My Mother by Vera Williams, Across Five Aprils by Irene Hunt, Stories of Cooperation by Henry Billings). Discuss sharing and cooperation. Have students design their own “story” through pictures or sentences about how they cooperate.
