·        Read model college admission essays. Identify the relative strengths and weaknesses of the selected essays. Consider how sincere, persuasive, cogent and well-written the samples are. Develop a final checklist to be used for students own writing. Use actual college and universities application, and draft a college essay that their teacher and peers can review using the class-generated checklist.

·        Prepare a list of career-related documents to be used in a portfolio. Include a completed sample copy of students’ career choice in a job analysis, resume, letter of application, thank-you letter, and reference sheet. Compile business documents into a 3-ring binder and give it a title such as “career portfolio.” Also include documents showing certificates of achievements and accomplishments. Use this career binder as a guide to plan for a college interview or a job interview.
